Autumn is coming—can you feel it? Can you smell the irresistible spices and hear the crunch of fallen leaves underfoot? It’s hardly any wonder at all that fall is one of the most popular times of year to hold special events and celebrations. So, what can you look forward to in event lighting trends to take this year’s fall designs to new heights?
Waterfall string lighting
The use of LED light strings hung side by side to create the impression of water falling is supremely popular. It can be applied behind a sweetheart table to bring attention to the guests of honor at a wedding, or suspended from tree branches or chandeliers to create a luxurious sense of movement and depth in any space. Plan ahead for an adequate power supply, and enjoy the impact that something as simple as strings of light artfully installed can bring to your fall events.
Select candles in fall colors
Don’t miss out—candles are available in far more colors than standard white or off-white. Choose candles in colors straight from your fall palettes and display them in clear containers or on candle stands. You don’t need to limit yourself to red, orange, yellow, brown and green when selecting a palette, either. Explore contemporary combinations like rust and blue, or copper, blush and burgundy and complement your scheme with candles to match.
Bring the outdoors In
One of the year’s hottest trends is taking outdoor elements and bringing them inside. This can totally be applied to your lighting style. Sections of logs can be hollowed out to act as candleholders, or stacked at a variety of heights, clustered and topped with pillar candles to create backdrops for important tables, or even as an altar at a wedding. Similarly, hollowed out apples make fresh, sweet-smelling and attractive votive holders that can accent food stations or guest place settings.
Fill clear glassware with acorns, pinecones, or leaves then set LED candles inside for a safe and attractive design piece. Or, lace string lights through curly willow branches to create a simple, illuminated table runner.
Light the way
Pathways lined with lanterns, luminaria, and candleholders hanging from shepherd’s hooks remain popular and will continue to capture the hearts of clients this fall event season. Overhead light can also help guests find their way, so consider stringing Edison or pendant lights, or string lights from trees or shrubs, or suspending pretty glass containers with long-lasting battery-operated reusable lights from branches to enhance the safety and beauty of your pathways for your clients and their guests.
Fill your décor with light
Thanks to low-heat battery-operated LED lights, we can fill practically anything with light, and that opens up a lot of really neat options this fall. Take a round Chinese paper lantern, insert a battery operated votive or pillar, the top it with some fall flowers for a glowing centerpiece. Or, fill your favorite mason jars or clear containers with battery-operated string lights and cluster them to add light to any display. You can even light up your outdoor evening cocktail tables by choosing a linen that will allow some of the glow to shine through for an impressive way to make your gathering stand out among the rest.
