My Favorite Free PR Resources

As event professionals, we know that running a business is a series of balancing acts. You are constantly moving from one thing to the next, trying to give each item appropriate attention. Some days it can seem impossible to fit everything in, especially things that aren’t normally part of your everyday routine like public relations.

We all know that PR is a very important part of expanding a business and bringing in potential clients. By streamlining it with tools and programs that can make life easier, you’ll have no problem working public relations into your business routine. Let’s take a look at some of my favorites.

Dropbox and Google Drive

These cloud-based storage programs are perfect for your on-the-go days when you are juggling meetings all over town and conference call after conference call. Access your files from any device, including your phone, tablet, or laptop. They have also made sharing large files easier than ever. I have found that Dropbox links to galleries are a favorite choice for editors.

Talkwalker alerts

Knowing that you have a feature coming out is a great feeling! However, no one wants to spend hours checking the website over and over waiting for it to appear. Talkwalker Alerts is a must-have for me because it lets me know when a feature has gone live. Just plug in your keywords and wait for an email—then celebrate!

Wufoo

This tool is perfect for any client insight you want for any topic. It is a simple form builder where you can create a questionnaire. Once the form is completed, you will receive an email letting you know it’s done. I have found them most useful for real wedding submissions because they often require insight from the couple about their big day and it’s easy to quickly email them a link to the survey.

HARO and SourceBottle

HARO (Help a Reporter Out) and SourceBottle are not only huge time savers, but also lifesavers! If you’re new to the PR game or are tired of constantly scouring the Internet looking for press opportunities, then you need to sign up as soon as possible. They connect you directly to editors and writers looking for expert commentary on topics they are working on.

While no tool is going to solve everything, embracing one or more of these tools will no doubt make your life a little bit easier.
